Long Island was well represented on the state sportswriters' all-state football teams, especially in Class AA, where Nassau and Suffolk combined to place four members on the first-team offense and four more on the first-team defense.

On offense, quarterback Tyler Heuer of Oceanside, linemen Ryan Sloan of Bellport and Terrell Brown of Freeport and all-purpose back Mike Pellegrino of Connetquot were elected.

On defense, lineman Zack Naja of Smithtown West, linebackers Jesse Scanna of Sachem North and Tyler McLees of St. Anthony's and defensive back Stacey Bedell of Floyd were first-team choices.

Long Island had four first-team selections in Class A, three from Garden City. On offense, lineman James Wright and kicker Ryan Norton were named, and on defense, linebacker Steve Jahelka was chosen. Lynbrook defensive lineman Mike Kozlakowski also made first team.

In Class B, Roosevelt running back Dante Colter was a first-team selection.
