Midway through the second quarter of Thursday night's Suffolk IV championship game against Shoreham-Wading River at Stony Brook, Glenn had only 14 total yards. But Chris Forsberg changed that in a hurry.

Midway through the first half, he broke an 81-yard run to get to the 3-yard line, setting up a touchdown run by Shihan Rudyk on the next play. After falling behind by 14 points in the first quarter, Glenn was on its way to tying the score before halftime.

It wasn't enough for the Knights, though. A field goal by Danny Mahoney with 9:48 left in the fourth quarter gave Shoreham a three-point lead that it did not relinquish in a 24-14 victory.

But a game that could have completely gotten away became a story of resilience as Glenn came close to ending the Wildcats' winning streak. It reached 23 and is the longest active streak on Long Island.

The Knights ended their season at 9-2, with both losses coming against the 11-0 Wildcats. Forsberg had 107 yards on 11 carries and Wayne White added 53 yards on 12 carries.

Kyle Tiernan had all three of Glenn's receptions for 55 yards, including a 26-yard touchdown catch that tied the score at 14.

The loss was the third in a row in the Suffolk championship game for the Knights, who have made the title game in seven of the last eight seasons. Glenn won the championship in 2010 and '11.

But for this year's team, another season of success ended a step before it would have liked against a familiar rival. Thursday night marked the fourth time in two years that Glenn has fallen to Shoreham.
