Johnson has 99-yard return, Elmont rallies
Kyle Johnson had a 99-yard kickoff return for a touchdown to lift Elmont (4-2) to a 28-23 win over Mepham in Nassau II. Johnson's return came after Nick Wenthen's 1-yard TD run pulled Mepham (4-2) to within two after trailing 22-0. Johnson opened the scoring with a 42-yard punt return in the first quarter. Ben Odugbesan had a 3-yard TD run and caught a 40-yard TD pass from Will Faison.
Bellmore JFK 14, Westbury 0:Matt Delbianco 122 yards and a touchdown on 22 carries and Chris Racalbuto was 7-for-12 for 133 yards and had a rushing TD to lead Bellmore JFK (3-3) over Westbury (0-6). Ralph Faiella had two receptions for 61 yards.
Garden City 34, Calhoun 3:Mike Comiskey completed six of seven passes for 105 yards and three touchdowns to lead Garden City (6-0) over Calhoun (2-4). Devin Dwyer had 79 yards and two touchdowns. Ryan Norton hit two field goals, including a career-long 49-yard kick at the end of the third quarter.
Carey 19, Long Beach 14: Rob Zorn had 117 yards and three touchdowns, including a 5-yard TD run in the fourth quarter, on 21 carries to lead Carey (4-2) over Long Beach (3-3). Mike Locicero had 134 yards on 20 carries. Andrew Ris' leaping grab on Long Beach's onside kick with 1:29 remaining helped sealed the win.
Wantagh 35, New Hyde Park 8: Matt Balzano ran for 73 yards and two touchdowns and added a 24-yard touchdown catch to lead Wantagh (5-1) over New Hyde Park (4-2). Joe Giadina ran for 122 yards and a score and Shawn Charkowich had 52 rushing yards.
Jericho 35, Herricks 7:Jordan Brett had eight carries for 129 yards, including touchdown runs of 29, 15, and 56 yards, to lead Jericho (2-4) over Herricks (1-5). Jordan Brett had nine solo tackles and a sack.
Carle Place/Wheatley 35, Great Neck South 12: Chris Comito had 175 yards and two touchdowns on 13 carries to lead Carle Place/Wheatley (3-3) over Great Neck South (1-5). Kenny Urick added 70 rushing yards and a score on eight carries.
