McIlwee's late TD leads Hicksville
Mike McIlwee rushed for a 2-yard touchdown with 24 seconds remaining to cut the deficit to one and then ran in the two-point conversion to lift Hicksville to a 43-42 win over Hempstead Saturday in a Nassau I football opener. McIlwee rushed for 72 yards on 15 carries and three TDs and went 17-for-26 passing for 317 yards and one TD. Chris Durham had seven receptions for 171 yards and a TD. After Danny Yates' 3-yard TD run put Hicksville ahead 35-34 with 9:51 remaining in the fourth, Manny Guzman connected with Tywan Watson for a 51-yard TD to give Hempstead a 42-35 lead.
Baldwin 20, Farmingdale 19: Pat Dillon's 2-yard scoring run with two minutes remaining capped the scoring. Nate Smith made a tackle with 1:30 left that stopped Farmingdale on a fourth down. Javaun Tomlinson had 128 yards rushing on 25 carries and a TD. Osama Albangee had four sacks and blocked a field goal with eight minutes left in the game for Baldwin that would have given Farmingdale a two-possession lead.
Syosset 27, Plainview JFK 0: Joe Morris rushed for 149 yards on nine carries, including TD runs of 51, 44, and 26 yards to lead Syosset.
East Meadow 42, Massapequa 24: Dylan Curry scored on two 1-yard runs, Robbie Healy rushed for 158 yards on 13 carries with a TD, and Billy Andrle had 11 carries for 139 yards with two TDs, 11 tackles and two sacks for East Meadow.
Valley Stream Central 48, Port Washington 35: Laton Butler, who rushed for 235 yards, capped off a three TD performance with a 5-yard score to put VSC up 42-35 with 5:15 left in the third quarter. Kwesi Harrison had 190 yards rushing and three TDs.
Freeport 35, MacArthur 19: Isiah Barnes went 14 of 18 for 184 yards and three TDs and rushed for 179 yards on 21 attempts and a TD for Freeport. Erol Small led the Red Devils with 11 tackles.
