RJ Votruba rushed for 135 yards and a touchdown on 12 carries to lead Garden City to a 21-14 win over Long Beach in a Nassau II football game. Stevie Finnell added 99 rushing yards on 11 carries and three receptions for 28 yards and a touchdown. Cole Webber threw two touchdown passes. Jack Archer and Michael Berkery each added an interception.
Sewanhaka 13, Herricks 9: Kamari Denhart scored a go-ahead 3-yard rushing touchdown in the fourth quarter for Sewanhaka in Nassau II. Jermel Heard Jr. scored a 6-yard rushing touchdown in the first quarter. Markese Gadson had 14 solo tackles and one sack. Braden Sosnik caught a 22-yard touchdown pass and Cooper LaRock had a safety for Herricks.
South Side 28, New Hyde Park 14: Michael Melkonian caught two touchdwon passes and returned an interception 57 yards to lead South Side. Melkonian’s receiving touchdowns came from 60 and 65 yards from Owen West. Jack Lozito added 102 rushing yards on 13 carries, including a 49-yard touchdown run. Vinny Alvarenga rushed for a touchdown and caught a 55-yard touchdown for New Hyde Park.
MacArthur 31, Calhoun 7: Rocco Hogan rushed for 80 yards on 20 carries and scored three touchdowns to lead MacArthur. Dylan Tripi had an interception. Keidyn Cheng and Rocco Hogan each had fumble recoveries that set up short fields for the Generals. Ralph Boccio led the team with six tackles. Scott Molina added a sack.
Bellmore JFK 34,
Roslyn/Friends Academy 28: Ray Torchia had 12 carries for 203 yards and three touchdowns, including the winning touchdown in overtime, to lead Bellmore JFK. Devin Pryor added 23 carries for 117 yards and two touchdowns.
