Senior running back Mike Silva ran for a career-high 227 yards and two touchdowns on 20 carries as Newfield coasted to a 41-21 win over visiting Half Hollow Hills West Friday night in a Suffolk II football game.

Both of Silva's scores came during a 21-0 first quarter for Newfield (4-3). Zach Powell had eight carries for 132 yards and two TDs, and Brandon Riggi completed 7 of 9 passes for 90 yards.

Ron Denig had 12 tackles (three for loss), a sack and an interception. Hills West is 3-4.Westhampton 61, East Hampton 7:Jack Murphy completed touchdown passes of 47 and 24 yards to his older brother T.J. as Westhampton (5-2) took a 34-0 first-quarter lead in Suffolk III. Peter Broccoli had 94 yards and a touchdown and Ben Zeqiri had eight tackles and a fumble recovery. East Hampton is 0-7.

Hampton Bays 57, Stony Brook 12: Cody Nolan had touchdown runs of 2 and 27 yards in the second quarter as Hampton Bays (4-3) took 49-6 halftime lead in Suffolk IV. Nolan had 35 yards on five carries, Andrew Morris had 57 yards and two scores on seven carries and Juan Ramirez led the team with 91 yards and a touchdown on seven carries. For the third consecutive game, Tracy Kennedy had a kickoff return touchdown. Stony Brook is 1-6.

GIRLS TENNIS

Carle Place 4, Plainedge 3: Devin Deveau beat Michelle Carnevale in the clinching third singles match for Carle Place in a Nassau Conference III girls tennis quarterfinal. Carle Place (10-3) faces Glen Cove in a semifinal at 3 p.m. on Monday.

East Hampton 6, Mount Sinai 1:Phoebe Gianis defeated Erika Mavi at third singles, 7-6 (8-6), 6-1 for No. 16 East Hampton (5-6) in a Suffolk outbracket match. East Hampton advances to the first round and will play host and top-seeded Half Hollow Hills East at 3 p.m. Tuesday.

FIELD HOCKEY

Shoreham-Wading River 1, Pierson/Bridgehampton 0: Debi-Michelle Jantzen's goal with 16:50 left in the first half won it for Shoreham-Wading River (11-1) in Division III. Goalkeeper Kendal Conway made five saves in her eighth shutout of the season for the Wildcats.GIRLS SWIMMING

Plainview JFK 108, Syosset 78:Isabel Ren won the 200 individual medley (2:24.97), 100 backstroke (1:03.35) and was part of the winning 400 freestyle relay (4:15.79) and 200 medley relay (2:03.60) for Plainview JFK (5-2) in Conf. II. Wantagh 96, Cold Spring Harbor 84:Shannon Gordon won the 50 freestyle (26.47) and 100 freestyle (58.14) to lead Wantagh (8-0 Conference II) to its first conference title since 2004.
