Suffolk Division III Week 5 roundup
Gianni Amodemo’s broke up a fourth-down pass with 50 seconds left in the game to seal Westhampton’s 20-14 win over East Islip in Suffolk Division III Friday night. William Gambino threw two touchdown passes, including an eight-yard strike to Kevin Smith in the first quarter. Gambino threw a 40-yard touchdown pass to Brody Schaffer in the fourth quarter. Schaffer also kicked field goals of 37 and 38 yards for Westhampton (5-0). Andrew Cooper rushed for two touchdowns for East Islip.
Harborfields 13, Hauppauge 10: Shane Longin threw a touchdown and scored the go-ahead touchdown on a two-yard run with 2:08 left in the fourth quarter for Harborfields (4-1). With 16 seconds left Ethan Appolon made a stop to seal the win. Harborfields had four interceptions and blocked a field goal. Michael Ferrenti had two interceptions. Gavin Lindkvist made eight tackles including two for a loss. Andrew White made five tackles and three for a loss.
Deer Park 18, Comsewogue 14: Hunter Lovinsky’s 74-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter gave Deer Park an 18-14 lead. Lovinsky rushed for 110 yards on 11 carries. His twin brother, Hayden, caught a 30-yard touchdown pass from Aaron Smith in the third quarterthat cut the Comsewogue lead to 14-12. John Laird’s sack with 45 seconds left in the game sealed the win for Deer Park (2-3).
Amityville 20, East Hampton 13: Joshua Garrett ran 20 yards for the winning touchdown and ran in the ensuing two-point conversion in the fourth quarter. Tyree Jones scored an 8-yard touchdown in the first quarter to give Amityville a 6-0 lead. After East Hampton took a 7-6 lead later in the first, Jermaine Jackson’s 20-yard touchdown run in the second quarter. Jackson rushed for 106 yards and a touchdown on 12 carries and made eight tackles. East Hampton’s Will Darrell blocked a punt and returned it 40-yards for a touchdown in the third quarter.
Sayville 41, Islip 20: Kyle Messina rushed for 194 yards and five touchdowns to lead Sayville (5-0). Jake Tripptree rushed for 182 yards and passed for 182 yards and threw a touchdown. The Golden Flashes rushed for 402 total yards. Anthony Morrione caught the touchdown. Benjamin Pierce had two interceptions. Joseph Vitale and Kaiden Lewis connected for three touchdowns for Islip.
Half Hollow Hills West 42, Rocky Point 7: Joseph Filardi completed 7-of -11 passes for four touchdowns and rushed for 116 yards on six carries. Filardi connected with Jesse Brooks for three touchdowns. Filardi and Brooks each had an interception in the first half for Half Hollow Hills West (5-0). Jalyn Jacques rushed for 158 yards and two touchdowns in the second half and Ryan Bonocore and Zachary Vasconcello each made nine tackles.
Eastport-South Manor 61, Wyandanch 0: Pat Murphy had 90 yards and a touchdown on eight carries to lead Eastport-South Manor (1-4) in Suffolk III. Ashton Lides finished with 70 yards and two touchdowns on six carries. Dan Odell had two five-yard rushing touchdowns. Anthony D’Anna had a 10-yard fumble return for a touchdown and Payton Timoney had a 10-yard interception return for a touchdown.
