Toney scores twice, leads Huntington
Trayvon Toney caught touchdown passes of 73 and 52 yards and had 132 yards on four receptions for Huntington yesterday in a 32-14 win over Bellport in Suffolk III football.
Down 14-12 late in the third quarter, Huntington stopped a run on fourth-and-goal from the 1-yard line. Toney also had 12 tackles and a forced fumble, and Tommy Mulligan scored a TD on a fumble recovery to extend the lead to 25-14 with 6:30 left in the game for Huntington (1-1). Frank Caravetto had 10 tackles and a fumble recovery in the win. Bellport is 0-2.
Kings Park 42, East Hampton 7: Tom Milich had 12 rushes for 144 yards and four TDs for Kings Park (1-1). Luke Toscano ran for a touchdown and two-point conversion and recovered a fumble. Milich led the team in tackles with six. East Hampton is 0-2.
Comsewogue 21, Eastport-South Manor 7: Anthony Marone scored on a 21-yard run in the first quarter and Kenny Scotland scored on a 32-yard pass from Ryan Keefe to give Comsewogue (2-0) a 14-0 lead. Marone carried 18 times for 124 yards and two TDs and Scotland caught two passes for 46 yards and a TD. Michael Krisa had seven tackles and a sack and Tom Hannel had an interception to lead the Warriors' defense. Ryan Curley had 21 carries for 140 yards and a TD to lead ESM (1-1).
Miller Place 20, Harborfields 0: Matt Hinchy rushed for 114 yards and a touchdown on 14 carries for Miller Place (1-1). Alex Greenidge and Colin Ferrall each had 10 tackles. Cody McPartland had two sacks for Miller Place, which had 278 yards rushing. Harborfields is 1-1.
Westhampton 38, Rocky Point 12: Linebacker Brian Culhane had 11 tackles and recovered three fumbles, returning two of them for touchdowns. He scored on a 36-yard fumble return in the second quarter to give Westhampton (2-0) a 20-0 lead. He later scored on a 58-yard fumble return to extend the lead to 32-0. Jack Murphy passed for a TD and rushed for a TD and Evan Gagne rushed for 87 yards on six carries. Brian Corrigan had two sacks and Dan Gomez had 10 tackles in the win. Rocky Point is 0-2.
