Week 1 outstanding high school football performances

Ryan Bitzer, Riverhead: Quarterback completed 26 of 39 passes for a school-record 395 yards and four touchdowns in a 38-35 win over East Islip.
Kenny Scotland, Comsewogue: Defensive end had three and a half sacks and scored on a 27-yard pass reception in a 21-14 win over Bellport.
Dalton Crossan, Sachem North: Halfback scored four touchdowns on eight carries and finished with 145 yards in a 27-13 win over Bay Shore.
Stacey Bedell, Floyd: Senior halfback rushed for 265 yards and scored five touchdowns on seven carries in a 41-7 win over Lindenhurst. He also had an interception.
Ralph Caccavale, Plainedge: Halfback carried 15 times for 150 yards and three touchdowns in a 42-14 win over Sewanhaka. He also had a 70-yard interception for a score.
Mike McIlwee, Hicksville: Quarterback completed 17 of 26 passes for 317 yards and one score in a 43-42 win over Hempstead. He also rushed 72 yards and three touchdowns, including a 2-yard scoring run with 24 seconds left and the ensuing two-point conversion.
Clifton Melhado, West Babylon: Junior quarterback passed for three touchdowns and ran for another in the Eagles 43-22 win over North Babylon.
Osama Albangee, Baldwin: Blocked a field-goal attempt with eight minutes remaining to preserve a 20-19 win over Farmingdale. He also had four sacks.
