Nassau Week 3 football conference roundups
NASSAU CONFERENCE I
Massapequa 35, Freeport 28: Paul Dulanto found Shane Horan wide open in the middle of the field on a play action pass for a 59-yard touchdown with 1:30 left in the fourth quarter to break a tie at 28 as Massapequa defeated Freeport, 35-28, in Nassau Conference I football.
Dulanto completed 10 of 15 passes for 225 yards and three touchdowns, including a 70-yard touchdown to Ryan Fountain, to give Massapequa a 28-20 lead with 4:23 left in the fourth quarter.
D’Angelo Gordon had a 54-yard touchdown run, his second score of the game, to tie it at 28 for Freeport following a successful two-point conversion run from Nazair Jean-Lubin with 3:11 left in the fourth quarter.
Tyler Villalta rushed for 93 yards and two touchdowns and Fountain had four receptions for 137 yards and two touchdowns for Massapequa (3-0).
East Meadow 7, Westbury 0: Brandon Kebreau had a 25-yard touchdown run with eight minutes left in the third quarter to cap off a seven-play, 60-yard drive for the game’s lone touchdown for East Meadow (2-1). Joe Festa ran for 80 yards on 13 carries and Brandon Kebreau ran for 60 yards on seven carries. Antonio Montford made six tackles and Anthony Pastore and Isaiah McIntosh had interceptions.
Farmingdale 49, Hicksville 0: Tomaso Ramos had four carries for 52 yards and two touchdowns and Trevor Gayron also had two touchdowns on two carries for 23 yards for Farmingdale (3-0). Anthony Licci completed 4 of 4 passes for 48 yards and a touchdown. James Collins had an interception and a fumble recovery in Farmingdale’s third consecutive shutout.
Baldwin 36, Syosset 14: Anthony Byron rushed for 124 yards and three touchdowns on 15 carries and Vaughdrea Johnson rushed for 142 yards on 21 carries, including a 3-yard touchdown run for Baldwin (2-1).
Byron opened the scoring with a 41-yard touchdown in the first quarter and had a 2-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter to extend the lead to 36-14 and seal the victory. Shane Mauldin added 13 carries for 43 yards and a touchdown. Kwasi Bonsu recorded two sacks and Jadis Chenet had an interception.
Oceanside 43, Plainview-Old Bethpage JFK 7: Nick Cairo ran with 112 yards and three touchdowns on 15 carries for Oceanside (1-2). Cairo scored the first two touchdowns of the game, giving the Sailors a 13-0 lead after the first quarter. Cairo also recorded an interception as did Oceanside’s Adrian Baez. Miles McGann had a tackle for loss, which resulted in a safety for Oceanside.
NASSAU CONFERENCE II
Sewanhaka 41, Bellmore JFK 33: Jermel Heard Jr. returned a kickoff 50 yards for a touchdown and Jamoy Bryan made the ensuing PAT with 1:20 left in the fourth quarter for the game’s final points as Sewanhaka defeated Bellmore JFK, 41-33, in Nassau Conference II football. Heard also caught a 54-yard touchdown for Sewanhaka (2-1). Dominick Balleta threw for 132 yards and two touchdowns. Carter Fredricks-Dort scored two touchdowns on the ground, including a 55-yard score in the fourth quarter. Joe Vaccaro rushed for 108 yards and a touchdown and threw two touchdowns for Bellmore JFK.
Long Beach 21, MacArthur 0: Jeff Conway threw for 240 yards and two touchdowns to lead Long Beach (2-1). Luke Hartman had one interception and one fumble recovery and Jack Miller forced a fumble. CJ Merchant had two sacks and Hayden Sofield added another sack.
Garden City 49, Herricks 0: Stevie Finnell rushed for 60 yards on five carries, including a 13-yard touchdown run, and had a 50-yard interception return for a touchdown for Garden City (3-0). Cole Webber had two touchdown passes, a 25-yard pass to RJ Votruba and a 5-yard score to Jack Archer. Michael Berkery added a 55-yard interception return for a touchdown.
Mepham 49, Calhoun 12: Dom Novello completed 13 of 19 passes for 259 yards and two touchdowns and also ran for 30 yards and a touchdown for Mepham (3-0). Michael Cucinella had 114 receiving yards and a touchdown. The Pirates’ defense had three sacks, two interceptions, and a fumble recovery.
New Hyde Park 14, Elmont 6: Aidan Garvey rushed 181 yards on 15 carries, including a 50-yard touchdown run in the third quarter for New Hyde Park (2-1). Garvey also made 10 tackles. Vinny Alvarenga rushed for 64 yards and a touchdown and completed 3 of 7 passes for 56 yards. Jake Rodgers and Tom Reilly each had a sack and Walter Reyes had eight tackles.
South Side 35, Roslyn/Friends Academy 13: Jack Lozito rushed for 217 yards and had rushing touchdowns of 6 and 5 yards for South Side (2-1). Michael Melkonian had a 15-yard touchdown run and 53 receiving yards, including a 29-yard touchdown, from Owen West.
NASSAU CONFERENCE III
Carey 28, Lynbrook 21: Will Tolliver ran for 156 yards and three touchdowns, including a 97-yard run in the second quarter, and had an interception as Carey defeated Lynbrook, 28-21, in Nassau Conference III football. Matt Metzger completed 7 of 15 passes for 74 yards and a touchdown and ran for 90 yards on seven carries. Frankie Arrigali added an interception. Salvatore DiMarco, Arrigali, Matteo Tufano, Vincent Tierney, Ben Rose, Robert Zitarosa, and Jake Vitale all contributed five tackles for Carey (2-1).
Glen Cove 44, Valley Stream North 28: Chaaya Letellier rushed for 271 yards and four touchdowns and Jadyn Johnson added 200 yards and two touchdowns to lead Glen Cove (1-2). Letellier scored on runs of 5, 32, 7 and 38 yards. Johnson scored on runs of 42 and 48 yards. Lorenzo Curcio added an interception. Glen Cove entered the half trailing 21-8 and then scored 36 points in the second half.
Manhasset 21, Floral Park 7: Jack Mulholland ran for 54 yards on eight carries and a touchdown for Manhasset (2-1). Atif Heathington ran for 74 yards on four carries and Matt Cargiulo ran for 76 yards on 11 carries.
Wantagh 42, Division 0: Joe Legovich completed 11 of 13 passes for 228 yards and three touchdowns and added one rushing touchdown for Wantagh (3-0). Jake Martini opened the game with a 49-yard rushing touchdown on the second play from scrimmage. Anthony Reale had 142 yards from scrimmage on five touches for Wantagh. Nick Cupelli totaled 115 yards from scrimmage, adding a touchdown on one of his four receptions. Thomas Conway and Timmy Hennig caught the other two passing touchdowns for Wantagh. Nico Zervos was 6-for-6 on extra point attempts.
NASSAU CONFERENCE IV
Mineola 24, Cold Spring Harbor 15: Jack Ryan rushed in a 6-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter to expand Mineola’s two-point lead into a nine-point advantage following a PAT from Danny Lobo as Mineola defeated Cold Spring Harbor, 24-15, in Nassau Conference IV football. Ryan also had a 9-yard touchdown pass for Mineola (3-1). Lobo was 3-for-3 on extra-points and made a 25-yard field goal. Tommy Renner had a 6-yard touchdown run to give Mineola a 7-0 lead in the second quarter.
North Shore 21, Seaford 6: Nick Livoti ran for 80 yards on nine carries, including two touchdowns in the first half, for North Shore (3-0). Peter Liotta rushed for 134 yards on 14 carries and had an interception and a fumble recovery. Garret Gates added a 30-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter to give North Shore a 21-0 lead.
Valley Stream South 21, Oyster Bay 7: Prince Meeks had eight carries for 106 yards and four receptions for 33 yards and a touchdown to lead Valley Stream South (2-1). Michael Hernandez added 10 carries for 101 yards and a touchdown. He also returned an interception 66 yards for a touchdown in the second quarter to give Valley Stream South a 14-7 lead entering halftime. Michael Brooks had nine tackles and Andy Lin and Lonnie Creech each recorded a sack.
Clarke 48, Carle Place/Wheatley 7: Just Somyak rushed for two touchdowns and added an 11-yard touchdown reception for Clarke (3-0).
Malverne 14, Locust Valley 7: Brandon McLauglin had 141 rushing yards and one touchdown on seven carries to lead Malverne (2-1). Norman Brown had 106 rushing yards and one touchdown on 14 carries. Kevin Estime had seven tackles and a sack. Michael McDougall had an interception and one sack.
West Hempstead 42, Lawrence 0: A’Lorenz Chatman rushed for 92 yards and a touchdown on three carries and Jonathan Balthazard ran for 43 yards and two touchdowns on five carries for West Hempstead (3-0).
