Whitman/Sachem East game switched to Saturday

The Friday Night Lights have been turned off at Walt Whitman High School.

Tonight's home football game against Sachem East, which had been scheduled to start at 6 p.m., has been changed to Saturdayat 1 p.m. because of an incident following last Friday's 35-6 homecoming game loss to Commack.

According to a statement from South Huntington school district spokesman Steve Bartholomew, after that game "Youngsters who were not picked up by their parents left the Whitman campus and went to McDonald's . There were many more youngsters than the restaurant could accommodate, and the police were called to help monitor what they felt was an unsafe situation."

After tomorrow, the Wildcats have two home games, both of which were already scheduled for Saturdays at 2 p.m.
