Hardwood heroes and buzzer beaters in Long Island high school basketball

BUZZER BEATERS
Hannah Calarco, Bellport: She made a half-court heave, assisted by Meghan Garnett, as time expired in East Islip's 45-44 win on Tuesday.
Pat Cunningham, West Islip: The senior hit a short floater as time expired to give the Lions their first league win of the year, a 55-54 victory over Smithtown East. He had 29 points.
Mike McIndoo, Whitman: He scored an unassisted game-winning layup as time expired in Whitman's 64-62 win over Connetquot on Friday.
Erika Johnson, Bellport: She made a three-pointer at the horn to lead Bellport over Comsewogue, 63-61. She had 14 points.
BOYS BIG GAMES
Colin Cassara, Newfield: He scored 39 points, grabbed eight rebounds and had five steals in a 60-56 win over Centereach on Friday. Cassara notched his fourth 30-point game of the season, with a high of 39.
Sean Braithwaite, Center Moriches: He had 21 points and became the program's all-time leading scorer in a 78-49 win over Glenn on Tuesday.
JP Harding, Bridgehampton: He had 29 points and 22 rebounds in a 76-34 win over Smithtown Christian on Tuesday.
GIRLS BIG GAMES
Lauren Hansen, Ward Melville: She had 45 points — the most by a girl on Long Island this season — in a 68-45 win over Sachem North on Tuesday.
Lauren Romito, Hauppauge: The shot blocker. She had 11 blocks in a 45-37 win over Harborfields. She added 16 points and 13 rebounds on Friday.
Alyssa Adoimates, Glenn: She became the program's all-time leading scorer in a 31-point effort in a 68-42 win over Wyandanch on Thursday.
