The defending State Class A champs got their first loss of the season today, losing 4-0 to Massapequa (5-0-1). EmmaLee Meyer had four saves in the shutout.

After a 1-0 first half, Massapequa scored three goals within 15 minutes of the start of the second half. Erica Modena had two assists and Shannon Garrity, Tori Maley, Anna Seneta and Jamie Strumwasser all scored for Massapequa.

South Side (5-1) had not yet allowed a goal this year, while scoring 22. This is the first game the team has been shutout and the first game the team has not had a shutout.

This game is not reflected in this week's Big Ten (appearing in tomorrow's paper), but will be reflected in the weekly Top Ten feature on this blog on Wednesday. Stay tuned.
