Jenkins helps drive Babylon into playoffs
Nahari Jenkins scored 27 points and Max Watt's layup late in the fourth quarter put Babylon (6-6) up by four as it defeated Southampton, 66-62, to grab the final spot in the League VII playoffs. A.J. Sullivan chipped in four points and 12 rebounds for the Panthers. Southampton (7-5) outscored the Panthers 23-13 in the final quarter.
Wyandanch 74, Mercy 58: Alex Williams scored a career high 27 points and had 20 rebounds for Wyandanch (7-5).
Herricks 58, Plainview JFK 47: Andrew Fellus scored 22 points and George Malonoukos chipped in 18 points, 20 rebounds, four steals and one block to lead Herricks (6-7) over Plainview JFK (5-8) in the Conference AA-II outbracket game. Herricks travels to No. 5 Great Neck South, Friday at 6:30 p.m.
Greenport 58, Stony Brook 45:Jalen Shelby scored nine of his 17 points in the third to lead Greenport (13-1) on an 18-3 run to win the League VIII title. Dantre Langhorne had 16 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists. Tim Pandolfi scored 26 points for Stony Brook (12-2).
Southold 80, Bridgehampton 42: Winston Wilcenski scored a game-high 31 points, Alex Conway had 16 points and 16 rebounds for Southold (8-6). girls basketball
Shelter Island 58, Pierson 51: Kelsey McGayhey scored nine of her game-high 30 points in a 22-8 fourth quarter for Shelter Island (6-6), which clinches a League VIII playoff berth. Sarah Barrett had 23 points for Pierson (8-4).
