Kantor's 300 leads Sachem North
Evan Kantor bowled his second 300 game of the season Wednesday, leading Sachem North in a 1,032-753, 912-803, 1,127-923 win over Whitman in League II. The junior, who was perfect in the third game, had a 688 series for the Flaming Arrows (3-4).
Middle Country 3, Commack 0: Bryan Dragotta shot a 284 in Game 2 of a 724 series for Middle Country in a 1,117-1,063, 1,109-1,003, 1,015-975 win in League II. The 10th was the only frame in which he didn't get a strike.
East Islip 3, Deer Park 0: Ed Tuskan bowled a 258 in Game 3 of a 670 series to lead East Islip (13-0) in a 1067-747, 993-918, 1117-813 win in League I. Bobby Martin rolled a 235 in Game 3 of a 647 series and Kevin Bouza had a 279 in Game 3.
St. John the Baptist 3, Kellenberg 0: Kyle Durfee rolled a 246 in Game 2 and a 256 in Game 3 of a 673 series to lead St. John Baptist to a 1091-917, 1122-1050, 1209-901 win in CHSAA.
GIRLS BOWLING
Suffolk Singles and Doubles Tournament.
Middle Country's Melissa Sherwin bowled a 532 two-game series to win the 'A' bracket of the Suffolk Girls Singles & Doubles Tournament yesterday at East Islip Lanes.
Tara Ernst of East Islip took second with a 496 series and Sarah Harley (Middle Country) finished third with a 476. Talia Cohen of Commack won the 'B' division with a 455 and Lindsay Abrams (Islip) had a 442 to take second. Nikki Goodman (Sachem East) and Victoria Lewis each shot 367 to finish tied for first in the 'C' bracket.
Longwood's Taylor Schmidt and Patchogue-Medford's Taylor Llorens each bowled a 281 for the 'D' title.
Doubles.
The East Islip tandem of Ernst and Lena Sorrentino combined for a 897 series to win the 'A' doubles. Harley and Sherwin (Middle Country) took second with a 868, and Nancy Baione and Kelsey Fyer (East Islip) bowled a 836 for third. Longwood sisters Kelly and Kristin McDermott shot a 835 to win the 'B' division. Olivia Lopera and Amanda Schilling (East Islip) shot a 609 to win the 'C' division.Sewanhaka 3, Locust Valley 0: Rebbeca Gotterbarn shot a 670 series with a high of 234 in Game 2 and Danielle Roca bowled a 616 series with a high of 223 in Game 3 to lead Sewanhaka (11-0) in a 782-645, 797-536, 820-552 win in Conference II.
Carle Place 3, North Shore 0: Amanda Paiva had a 190 in Game 3 of a 537 series for Carle Place (8-3) in a 651-538, 634-497, 696-520 win in Conference II.
St. Anthony's 2, Sacred Heart 1: Jessica Reiszel rolled a 165 in Game 1 of a 482 series for St. Anthony's (3-5) in a 754-766, 760-721, 812-739 win in CHSAA.
BOYS BASKETBALL
Islip 73, Kings Park 69: Jon Horowitz's four-point play gave Islip (5-1) a 71-69 lead with 40 seconds left in double-overtime in League V. Horowitz had 23 points. Andrew Oberg added 10 points, 14 rebounds and four blocks, Fabian McDonald had 15 points and four steals, and David Powell had 13 points and 10 assists. Nick Borkowski scored 22 points for Kings Park (3-3).
Herricks 64, Hicksville 47: Andrew Fellus had 21 points and four assists to lead Herricks (3-3) in AA-II. George Malonoukos added 13 points and 10 rebounds and Jack Kim had eight points, eight assists, eight rebounds and three steals.
girls basketballElmont 50, Long Beach 39: Alex Clark scored eight of her 18 points in a 19-6 third quarter to lead Elmont (5-2) in AA-III. Goldie Harrison added 12 points, six steals and three assists.
Westhampton 45, East Hampton 40: Kristen Polan hit two free throws with three seconds left to seal the win and finished with 26 points and 12 rebounds for Westhampton (4-3) in League VI. Haley Laube added 11 points.
Waldorf 40, Our Savior New American 23: Isabella Fraim had 12 points and Annabella Sugrue added 10 more for Waldorf (8-0) in IPPSAL. Ajene Miller had five points and eight rebounds.
SWIMMING
Hauppauge 85, East Hampton 71: Chris Whitehorn won the 100-yard freestyle (56.20) and 200 freestyle (2:02.89) to lead Hauppauge (6-0-1) in League II. Thomas Brierley broke the East Hampton record with a 59.27 in the 100 backstroke.
Half Hollow Hills 91, Lindenhurst 85: Nick Kontos won the 200 IM with a time of 2:24.63 and Michael DiMaria won the 100 breaststroke in 1:17.68 for Half Hollow Hills (3-0) in League I.
