Trailing by 21 points after three quarters, Newfield stayed positive and it paid off.

Nana Nsiah-Yeboah, who had 14 points and 10 assists, opened overtime with a pair of layups and assisted on Darrin Kaiser's layup with four seconds left in the extra period that provided the final margin in Newfield's 63-60 League III boys basketball victory over Smithtown West last night.

The Wolverines (1-2) trailed 54-33 after three quarters but outscored Smithtown West 22-1 in the fourth, capped by Nsiah-Yeboah's three-pointer with 19 seconds to tie it at 55. Ivan Kemp scored nine of his 17 points in the final quarter.

Ryan Hickey led Smithtown West (0-3) with 22 points, including a three-pointer that pulled Smithtown West to within 61-60 with 15 seconds remaining in overtime. Bay Shore 64, Sachem North 59: Bryson Lassiter scored 26 points with seven assists and five steals to lead Bay Shore (2-1) in League II. Devin Farmer added eight points and 12 rebounds. Marco Sagliocca scored eight points, including a pair of free throws with 19.3 seconds left to provide the final margin. Anthony Beuttner and Dave Brown each scored 14 points for Sachem North (1-2).

Whitman 55, Half Hollow Hills East 46: Myles Jones had 20 points, 10 rebounds, six blocks and five steals for Whitman (3-0), which led 44-17 after the third quarter. Daniel Guardado added 15 points, and Darrell Felder had nine. Julius Jackson led Hills East (2-1) with seven points.Bellport 61, Hauppauge 51: Armand Correa scored 21 points and added five assists, and William Edwards added 17 points for Bellport (1-1) in League IV. Travis Correa had six points and five assists. The Correas and Edwards went a combined 14-for-18 from the field in the fourth quarter to preserve a 10-point lead. Jon Velazquez scored 21 points for Hauppauge (1-2). Kings Park 41, Sayville 39: Kevin Neglia scored on back-to-back possessions - his only points of the game - with less than a minute left to give Kings Park (3-1) a 41-37 lead in League V. Nick Borkowski led the Kingsmen with 13 points, and Craig Jeudy added 10. James Rupp scored 11 points, and Vinny Sakk added 10 points and 22 rebounds for Sayville (0-4). Rocky Point 55, Miller Place 48: Steve Soltyisik scored 19 points with eight rebounds and six assists for Rocky Point (1-2) in a game that was tied at 25 at the half. Kodi Lubkeman added 16 points and 11 rebounds. Jack Hepburn led Miller Place (1-3) with 12 points. Syosset 69, Oceanside 61: Mohammad Kassamali had 16 points and 12 rebounds, and Chris Park added 15 points and four steals to lead Syosset (1-3) in Conference AA-I. Jacob Luft scored 12 points and Jake Laine had 10. Gene Garay scored 31 points for Oceanside (1-2).

Great Neck North 63, North Shore 54: Jacob Aghelian scored 14 points for Great Neck North (2-2) in Conference A-III. The score was tied at 40 after the third quarter, but Jonah Gorvian's three-pointer with 3:00 to play put the Blazers ahead by 10. Barry Omessi added 11 points and Ben Batash had nine. Justin Bell scored 20 points for North Shore (0-3).East Rockaway 58, Locust Valley 50: Matt Fuller scored 23 points, grabbed 16 rebounds and had five steals for East Rockaway (2-2) in Conference BC. David McClure added 14 points and five assists. Alex Rawa led Locust Valley (3-1) with 17 points.

Lawrence Woodmere 66, Staten Island 45: Jerome Hayden had 24 points and seven assists, and Trent Parrish added 14 points and 12 rebounds to lead Lawrence Woodmere (7-1) in non-league. Jamal Benn added 15 points. Staten Island is 4-2.

Sachem North 54, West Islip 46: Stephen Penteck won the 100-yard butterfly in 58.98 seconds, took the 100 backstroke in 58.38 and was part of the winning 200 medley and 400 freestyle relay teams for Sachem North (3-0) in League I.
