Roundup: East Islip tops Miller Place field hockey
Freshman Nicole Levy scored her first varsity goal off a penalty corner from Alexa Martino with 1:30 left in the game for East Islip in a 1-0 win over Miller Place in non-league field hockey yesterday.
Sachem East 5, Connetquot 0: Meghan Coope had two goals for Sachem East in non-league.
BOYS VOLLEYBALL
Port Washington 2, Massapequa 0: Kevin Nardone had 16 assists and David Kim had 12 digs to lead Port Washington to a 25-23, 25-15 win in the final of the Port Washington Invitational. Jong-Ho Byun added 10 kills and three blocks. Nardone was named tournament MVP.
Lindenhurst 25, Northport 19:Joseph Curry had eight kills and Travis Von Holt had six kills and two assists for Lindenhurst in the Northport Spikefest. Lindenhurst, seeded seventh, went 7-3 in the 12-team tournament. Curry also had three assists and was named tournament MVP.
GIRLS VOLLEYBALL
Kellenberg 2, Sacred Heart 0: Brittany Cafiero had 14 assists and Sarina DeDomenico had eight kills as Kellenberg topped Sacred Heart, 25-19, 25-23, in the Wantagh Invitational Tournament final. Brianna Capobianco was named to the All-Tournament Team for Kellenberg.
Manhasset 2, Port Washington 0: Nicole Capolarello had 10 kills and Cassie DeMatteis added 12 assists for Manhasset in a 25-16, 25-20, 25-17 non-league win.
