St. Anthony’s boys swimming leading the way in Big 10 high school rankings

1. ST. ANTHONY’S BOYS SWIMMING The Friars captured their first Federation boys swimming championship in Buffalo, led by a 400-yard free relay team that finished third featuring captains Sean Cannon, Noah Chernik, Tyler Meyers along with Andrew Stange. The 200 medley relay team of Meyers, Michael Chang, Stange and Cannon won in an automatic All-American time of 1:34.09.
2. HUNTINGTON BOYS TRACK Huntington’s 4 x 400 relay team, comprised of Kyree Johnson, Lawrence Leake, Shane McGuire and Infinite Tucker, won the state crown in 3:24.02 at Cornell University. Tucker, who is committed to play football and run track at UMass, won the 55-meter hurdle title in 7.38 seconds.
3. SACHEM BOYS BOWLING Sachem won the state boys bowling championship with a total wood of 6,166. Nick Caruana led the tournament with a 1,384 six-game series and Anthony Naujokas was second with a 1,325.
4. LONG BEACH WRESTLING The Marines won the Nassau tournament with a record 14 place winners and finished second in the state tournament. The Marines crowned four Nassau champs: Josh Bourne (120), Jacori Teemer (126), Tyrese Byron (152) and Tyreek Bromley (182). Teemer went on to win his third state title.
5. HALF HOLLOW HILLS BOYS SWIMMING Hills won its first public school team championship, led by Alex Park, who won his second consecutive 200 IM title in 1:51.21. Its 200 free relay team (Harrison Tack, Justin Chang, Dylan Chan, Park) set a Suffolk record, winning in 1:25.94.
6. WARD MELVILLE BOYS FENCING Ward Melville defeated Jericho, 14-11, to win its ninth consecutive Long Island championship and 141st dual meet in a row. Danny Solomon went 3-0 in sabre to lead the Patriots (17-0).
7. EAST ISLIP GIRLS BOWLING East Islip took second at the state championship with a total wood of 5,507 behind Julia Bocamazo, who led the team with a 1,223 six-game series, and Olivia Lopera, who was second on the team with an 1,168 series.
8. ST. ANTHONY’S BOYS TRACK Ryan Kutch finished second in the 3,200 meters in 9:06.18 at the state championships at Cornell. Ryan Dearie was fourth in the 1,600 meters in 4:24.73.
9. UNIONDALE GIRLS TRACK The Knights finished fourth in the 4 x 400-meter relay at the state championships at Cornell in 4:01.98. Asia Jinks was fourth in the long jump at 17 feet, 5 inches and the triple jump, going 37 feet, 7 1⁄4 inches.
10. ST. ANTHONY’S GIRLS BASKETBALL The Friars (22-3) wrapped up the schedule with a dominant 79-51 win over two-time defending champ St. Mary’s in the CHSAA title game. Maia Moffitt scored a season-high 25 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. Jayla Jones-Pack was named CHSAA player of the year. The Friars play Christ the King in the state CHSAA semifinals on Friday.
