Boys volleyball players to watch for 2016

RYAN BYRNE
Eastport-South Manor, Senior, Outside Hitter
Byrne is one of the top-seeded Sharks’ top scoring options, and also has the versatility to play libero and setter.
MAX CHODES
Jericho, Senior, Libero
Chodes combined for 60 digs in Jericho’s two postseason victories last year, helping the Jayhawks reach the Class B county final.
ALEC HELFORD
Massapequa, Senior, Setter
Helford is one of the premier playmakers in Nassau County and had 45 assists in last season’s Class A county final victory.
SEAN HANNETT
Sachem North, Senior, Outside Hitter
Hannett started for last year’s Long Island champions and state finalists, and will be more involved in the attack in 2016.
DANIEL KIM
Plainview JFK, Senior, Outside Hitter
Kim is the focal point of the Hawks offense and has the ability to hit from any position.
JASON KOEHLER
Lindenhurst, Junior, Middle/Outside Hitter
The 6-6 Koehler has been a dominant force in the middle over the past two seasons, and will also play on the outside this year.
JOSH LEVINE
Bellmore JFK, Setter, Senior
Levine was instrumental to the Cougars’ Class B county title run, and had 39 assists in the county championship.
MATT LILLEY
Ward Melville, Senior, Setter/Outside Hitter
After running the Patriots offense as one of Suffolk county’s top setters last year, Lilley will get time at outside hitter.
TOMMY OGEKA
Eastport-South Manor, Junior, Outside Hitter
After being named to the all-state tournament team as a freshman in 2014, Ogeka thrived last season during the Sharks’ run to the county final.
GURSAIF SINGH
Calhoun, Senior, Outside Hitter
Singh has represented his native India on its under-14, under-16 and under-17 national teams.
