West Islip girls moving up

West Islip girls have been looking up at Smithtown East in the standings all season. No more.

After defeating East (7-1) on Wednesday, West Islip (7-1) established itself as a playoff contender in Suffolk League III. "It was the happiest I had seen the kids in two or three years," coach Jim Klimkoski said.

Klimkoski, however, is curbing his enthusiasm. "We just want to go in the playoffs with a nice streak," he said.
