Stephen Dutton
Long Island Wrestler of the Year
Rocky Point
Senior, 140 pounds

Season: 48-0
Career: 227-12

The two-time state and four-time county champion who will wrestle at Lehigh next year became Long Island's all-time wins leader in the Suffolk semifinals. He finished his career with 227 victories, six more than previous record-holder Jesse Jantzen, a 2000 Shoreham-Wading River alum. But arguably his biggest feat was overcoming a severe stomach flu and a one-point third-period deficit to Dylan Palacio of Long Beach in the state semifinals in Albany, a match he won in overtime. He earned a technical fall over Jim Kloc of Iroquois in the final.

Nick Arujau
Nassau Wrestler of the Year

Syosset
Senior, 125 pounds

Season : 38-0
Career: 186-7

Became the third Nassau wrestler to win three state titles, joining Bob Bury of Calhoun and Al Palacio of Long Beach. In doing so, the four-time Nassau champion eclipsed his friend Paul Liguori of Wantagh for the most consecutive wins in Nassau history with 123. His last high school loss came in the 2007 state final when he was a freshman. American University-bound, he was Nassau's only state champion this year.

Billy Coggins
Rocky Point
Senior, 171 pounds

Season: 46-1
Career: 222-23

Edged Wantagh's Joe Kavangh 3-2 to earn a state title in Albany. The two-time Suffolk champ who will wrestle for Virginia next year became the fifth Suffolk wrestler to reach 200 wins - joining teammates Stephen Dutton and Anthony Volpe - with a 6-3 win over Glenn's Jared Cheatham on Jan. 15. His only loss of the season came against two-time state Division II champion Tyler Beckwith of Greene in the Eastern States final.

Grant Greene
St. Anthony's
Junior, 119 pounds

Season: 35-3
Career: 144-12

The leader of the Friars' "Triple Threat" won his second straight state CHSAA title, but fell just short of defending his NYSPHAA crown in a 9-7 overtime loss to Huntington's Damon McQueen, his former training partner. The baby-faced Friar is a three-time All-State performer, as he also advanced to the 2007 96-pound Division II final as an eighth grader at Cold Spring Harbor.

Nigel McNeil
Huntington
Junior, 112 pounds

Season: 39-1
Career: 126-16

He couldn't seem to shake Longwood's Malik Rasheed at the end of the year. After the Blue Devils' star beat him 9-3 for his first county title, McNeil earned an 11-2 major decision over Rasheed in Albany to capture the state crown. At states, he had a technical fall and two major decisions en route to the title.

Damon McQueen
Huntington
Senior, 119 pounds

Season: 48-2
Career: 129-10

Faced deficits of 4-1 and 7-2 in the state final against Grant Greene of St. Anthony's, but fought his way back and won the title with a double-leg takedown nine seconds into overtime, much to the delight of his verbose fan base. The three-time Suffolk champ missed out on the state title in 2009 by one point, but this year he became the Blue Devils' 25th state champion, tops among any program in the state. He was also the Most Outstanding Wrestler at the Suffolk Tournament.

Nick Meinsen
Glenn
Senior, 130 pounds

Season: 42-0
Career: 143-9

Capped a perfect season with a 6-0 victory over Tyler Laraia of Newburgh in the state final. In doing so, he became the Glenn's first state champion. He also won his second straight county title for the two-time defending Suffolk champions.

Andy Rodriguez
Central Islip
Senior, 145 pounds

Season: 40-2
Career: 198-27

Won his second straight state title in exciting fashion, as he won each of his last three matches in Albany by a 3-2 score, including an ultimate tiebreaker decision over Tony Carlo of Farrell in the final. A three-time county champion and four-time finalist, he is the most decorated wrestler in CI history.

Anthony Volpe
Rocky Point
Senior, 160 pounds

Season: 48-3
Career: 226-21

Captured his first state title the same way he won his second county title - with a win over Louis Puca of Huntington. The Rutgers-bound Vople defeated Puca 7-2 at Stony Brook and 11-4 in Albany, where he also had two major decisions. The five-time league champion was one of three Rocky Point wrestlers to reach 200 wins this season.

Mark West
Hauppauge
Freshman, 96 pounds

Season: 43-0
Career: 43-0

Became the youngest of Hauppauge's five state champions in program history with a 2-1 win over Eric Lewandowski of Lancaster in the state final. He had a much easier time in the first three rounds, winning by technical fall, pin and a 7-2 decision. His 43 wins this season are a Hauppauge single-season record.
