Starlin Jimenez, a 2000 graduate of Brentwood who was a Suffolk County champion at 112 pounds in 1999, was tragically killed on Wednesday when his motorcycle collided with a pickup truck on County Road 83 in Medford.

Here is the complete story written by Bill Mason.

Jimenez, a member of the Brentwood wrestling hall of fame, placed third in the state after winning the county title his junior year. He was the county runner-up the next season after losing a 5-4 decision to Hauppauge's Dan Song in the 112-pound final.

He went on to Nassau CC, where he was a junior college All American in 2004.

Said Brentwood coach Ralph Napolitano, who was an assistant when Jimenez was a student: "He was a real quiet person, who led by example. His work ethic was second to none. Over the years as he grew to adulthood, he became a friend of mine.

"He loved coming back to the wrestling room during practice," Napolitano continued. "He's going to be missed. He was one of Brentwood's wrestling royalty."
