Khoury, Tigre, Palacio lead Long Beach wrestling win
Nick Khoury pinned Eric Brouillet in 3:40 at 140 pounds to spark Long Beach to a 35-22 win over Division Friday in a Nassau Conference 2A wrestling match.
Edisson Tigre won by decision, 15-5, at 130 pounds and Dylan Palacio won by pin in 3:16 at 152 for Long Beach, which will wrestle MacArthur for the 2A championship at 9 p.m. on Friday at Hofstra University.
Carle Place 33, Wheatley 12: Chris Barbosa took down Thomas Beague at 171 pounds with two seconds left to earn a 7-6 decision for Carle Place in Conference 4B. Anthony Amalfatano's reversal for two points with five seconds left in the match led to a 6-4 win at 130 pounds.
East Meadow 35, Syosset 30: Rocco Calderaro pinned John Scholl in 1:56 at 189 pounds to provide the final margin for East Meadow, which trailed 30-29.
Sewanhaka East 30, Baldwin 24: Kenny Richards pinned Gil Hermes in 5:30 at 152 pounds to clinch the Conference 1B title for Sewanhaka East.
Oyster Bay 31, Mineola 25: Harry Nicastro decisioned Chris Granados, 8-2, at 215 pounds to clinch the Conference 4B league championship for Oyster Bay. At 160, Brian Dillman overcame a 2-0 deficit to win by pin in 5:15 over John Euell.
Commack 36, Floyd 16: Brian Gerlak pinned Raul Rodriquez in 7:53 in double overtime at 189 pounds for Commack in Suffolk League I.
BOYS TRACK
MacArthur wins at Yale. Matt Granata, Dan Archer, Mike Camacho and Daniel Kubik took first place in the 4 x 200-meter relay (1:34.01) at the Yale Classic. Camacho, Kubik, Vin Danetti and Eric Chevez took second in the 4 x 400 relay in 3:39.00.
GIRLS TRACK
St. John the Baptist wins. Catherine Wespey, Annemarie Zigrosser, Alyssa Dorney and Anne Carey won the Large Schools 4 x 800-meter relay in a school record 9:35.14 at the Yale Classic, St. John coach Dorsey Spencer said. The record of 9:38.40 was set last season.
Baldwin takes third. Baldwin's 4 x 200-meter relay team of Dominique Desilus, Andrea Mask, Tiara Tolen and Regine Lazard placed third in the Large Schools relay at the Yale Classic with a time of 1:48.12. The quartet also took fifth in the 4 x 400 with a time of 4:07.76.BOYS SWIMMING
Jericho 93, Long Beach 90: Kevin Wu, Nate Skurnik, Jasper Du and Joe Na won the 400-yard freestyle relay by .02 seconds to win the meet for Jericho (5-0-1). Jericho won the race 3:33.85 to 3:33.87 and was winning by just one point heading into the final relay. Wu also won the 200 free (1:57.15) and the 100 free (53.45). Nick Stoski won the 200 IM (2:11.15) and the 100 breaststroke (1:03.28) for Long Beach.
Farmingdale 95, Great Neck North 86: Conor Burke won the 50-yard freestyle (25.24), Paul Giglio took second (26.01) and T.J. Murphy placed third (26.24) for Farmingdale. Mike Zelazny won the 100-yard backstroke (1:10.70) for Farmingdale.Freeport 49, Westbury 35: Chris Frey won the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:31.5 to lead Freeport.
Plainview JFK 60, Herricks 19: Jeremy Gabalski won the 50-yard freestyle (22.96) to lead Plainview JFK.
