BOYS WRESTLING
Division I
110 pounds: Xavier Seabury, North Babylon
Seabury earned a 1-0 decision over Long Beach’s Ethan Andreula, scoring the lone point on an escape early in the third period.
118 pounds: Dunia Sibomana-Rodriguez, Long Beach
Sibomana-Rodriguez used two takedowns to beat Manhasset senior Will Russell, 7-1, in the final for his third state title. A five-time state place-winner, Sibomana-Rodriguez was named Division I tournament’s Most Outstanding Wrestler this year.
138 pounds: Jake Nieto, Massapequa
Second-seeded Nieto decisioned Lindenhurst’s top-seeded Anthony Severino, 6-4, in the 138-pound final. Nieto scored a take down in the first period and maintained his advantage throughout the match. To reach the final, Nieto earned a takedown and two-point nearfall in overtime to beat Carthage’s Louden Elliott.
157 pounds: Camryn Howard, Bellport
Howard, a sophomore, became a two-time state champion after beating George Johnson of Iona Prep, 21-6, by technical fall in 4:33.
215 pounds: Devin Downes, Plainedge
Downes earned pinfalls in all four of his matches at the tournament, capped by pinning Minisink Valley’s second-seeded Zach Filip in 2:43 to become state champion for a third time.
Division II
144 pounds: Gavin Mangano, Shoreham-Wading River
Top-seeded Mangano won his third consecutive state title by defeating Ashten Haley of Cobleskill/Richmondville by 7-5 decision.
GIRLS WRESTLING
120 pounds: Gabrielle Severin, Bethpage
Severin, a runner-up the last two years, scored three points in the final 10 seconds to earn a 6-4 decision over Monroe-Woodbury’s Gail Sullivan. Severin was named Most Outstanding Wrestler of the tournament. She earned shutout victories in each of the first three rounds before the final.

132 pounds: Haley Gonzales, Hicksville
Gonzales became a two-time state champion after defeating Groton’s Carmen Bishop by technical fall, 10-0, in the final. Gonzales’ toughest bout came in the semifinal against Bellport’s Caitlin Maragioglio. Gonzales led 2-1 before scoring two points in the closing seconds to earn a 4-1 decision
152 pounds: Aaliyah Morrow, Bellport
The top-seeded Morrow won an 8-0 decision over No. 6 Ja’Niyah Simmons of Canandaigua to claim the 152-pound title. Morrow picked up three technical falls in 2:03 on her way to the final.
235 pounds: Naomi Gonzalez, Valley Stream North
Gonzalez overcame an early takedown and avoided being pinned before she took Mullin down with a front headlock and secured the pin in 1:22.
