Massapequa tops Long Island high school wrestling rankings

A look at the top wrestling squads on Long Island.
Large Schools
1. Massapequa (22-1): Massapequa defeated Long Beach, 39-33, to win the Nassau D-I dual meet title for the first time since 2019 and the ninth time overall.
2. Sachem North (19-0): Sachem North defeated East Islip, 34-29, on a pin by Valdey Pierre at 285 pounds as Sachem North won its second straight Suffolk D-I dual meet championship.
3. East Islip (25-2): East Islip lost a heartbreaker, 34-29, to Sachem North in the Suffolk D-I dual meet final.
4. Bellport (17-2): The Clippers lost to East Islip, 35-32, in the semifinals of the Suffolk D-I playoffs.
5. Long Beach (16-3): The Marines advanced to the final of the Nassau D-I playoffs where they lost to Massapequa, 39-33.
6. North Babylon (19-4): The Bulldogs rallied for a thrilling 39-33 win over Sayville in the quarterfinals of the Suffolk D-I playoffs before losing in the semifinals to eventual champion Sachem North, 43-27.
7. Chaminade (15-7): The Flyers defeated Kellenberg, 52-24, to clinch first place in the regular season in the NSCHSAA.
8. Oceanside (24-4): The Sailors reached the semifinals of the Nassau D-I dual meet playoffs for the first time and were defeated by Massapequa, 45-20.
9. Manhasset (9-2): The Set surprised third-seeded and previously undefeated Bellmore JFK, 46-22, in the quarterfinals of the Nassau D-I playoffs before losing in the semifinals.
10. Sayville (15-4): Sayville lost to North Babylon, 39-33, in the Suffolk D-I playoffs,
11. Farmingdale (16-3): The Dalers dropped a tight contest to Oceanside for the second time this season in the Nassau D-I quarterfinals.
12. Bellmore JFK (17-1): The Cougars lost for the first time this season, 46-22, to Manhasset in the Nassau D-I playoff quarterfinals.
13. Wantagh (21-5): Wantagh lost in the Nassau D-I playoffs, 37-30, to runner-up Long Beach.
14. Connetquot (18-3): The T-Birds lost in the Suffolk D-I playoffs quarterfinals, 42-30, to Bellport.
15. Brentwood (15-7): The Spartans defeated Sachem East, 31-28, in the first round, and lost in the quarterfinals, 36-24, to Sachem North in the Suffolk D-I playoffs.
Small Schools
1. Miller Place (20-3): The Panthers defeated SWR, 43-30, to win the Suffolk D-II dual meet title.
2. Shoreham-Wading River (22-2): SWR lost to Miller Place for the second time in eight days, this time in the Suffolk D-II final.
3. Seaford (12-8): The Vikings defeated Island Trees, 35-32, to win the Nassau D-II dual meets playoffs.
4. Mt. Sinai (4-4): The Mustangs defeated Port Jefferson in the first round and lost in the semifinals of the Suffolk D-II playoffs.
5. Glenn (7-13): The Knights were off this week.
