Varlamov, late of the Caps, was the odd man out of Washington's three young goaltender rotation; he was rumored heading to the KHL until Colorado decided to send its first-round pick next season to the Caps for Varlamov.

Risky move by the Avs, since Varlamov may still want to go to Russia and, considering they were the second-worst team in the league this year, a leap back to the postseason seems a long shot.

But they've clearly decided Varlamov is their guy in goal. That leaves Tomas Vokoun wondering what happened to the goaltending market he was supposed to be king of.
