ST. LOUIS — Jimmy Snuggerud is expected to miss at least six weeks with a left wrist injury that requires surgery, and fellow St. Louis Blues forward Alexey Toropchenko will also be out a significant amount of time after sustaining burns to his legs in a home accident.

General manager Doug Armstrong announced Monday that Snuggerud will go on injured reserve and be re-evaluated in six weeks and that Toropchenko is being listed as week to week. No other details were provided.

“I just know it was a home accident, so we’re going to leave it at that,” coach Jim Montgomery said after the team’s morning skate .

Aleksanteri Kaskimaki was recalled from Springfield of the American Hockey League in a corresponding roster move, but a flight delay prevented him from making his NHL debut against Anaheim.

Snuggerud is tied for 10th among NHL rookies in scoring with 11 points in 26 games. Montgomery said Snuggerud was playing in pain Saturday night and was set to have surgery Tuesday.

"There's been a lot of great development, and his future is really bright with us," Montgomery said. “He's been quickly maturing his game as a pro. He's realized the time zones and the travel and getting used to the grind of the NHL season. He's adjusted well.”

Toropchenko was ejected from the Blues’ most recent game Saturday night for injuring Utah’s Logan Cooley with a knee-on-knee hit, but avoided supplemental discipline. Toropchenko is the third player over the past month to miss time because of a non-hockey injury, after New Jersey's Jack Hughes had finger surgery following an accident at a team dinner and Florida's Eetu Luostarinen was hurt in a barbecuing mishap.
