Coyotes add Raffi Torres, Mike Smith

Two small, shrewd moves by GM Don Maloney, adding gritty winger Raffi Torres (2 years, $3.5-million) and goalie Mike Smith (2 years, $4-million). Twitter just popped up with them adding veteran F Boyd Gordon as well.

This is the M.O. of a league-owned team: Spend little and be wise. The Coyotes are who they are, and these signings fit right in with a low-scoring, low-profile team. One that can win games, but not really fans or prospective owners.
