The Los Angeles Kings have struggled to score goals all season, so they picked up former Ranger Marian Gaborik from the Columbus Blue Jackets yesterday, the final day of trades in the NHL.

The Blue Jackets got right wing Matt Frattin and two conditional draft picks for Gaborik, who's finally healthy after an injury-plagued season.

The was a lot of goalie movement, but one goalie going nowhere was the Devils' Martin Brodeur. Despite speculation that the Devils were considering dealing the NHL's winningest goaltender, the 41-year-old will finish his 20th consecutive season in New Jersey.

Devils general manager Lou Lamoriello refused to say whether any teams either inquired about Brodeur's availability or the Devils offered him to anyone. He also refused to say whether Brodeur had waived his no-trade clause.

Goalie Jaroslav Halak was traded for a second time in within a week. Washington acquired him from Buffalo in a swap of goalies. The Capitals sent backup goalie Michal Neuvirth and defenseman Rostislav Klesla to Buffalo, which only acquired Halak last Friday in a deal with the St. Louis.

Female stand-in goalie

Canada's Olympic champion women's goalie Shannon Szabados took the ice for practice with the Edmonton Oilers to fill in while the Oilers waited for Viktor Fasth to arrive after a trade with Anaheim. Szabados got the invite after fans on Twitter tried to convince the team to put her on the roster as backup goalie for its game against Ottawa.

"The guys were good about it," she said. "They were chirping me and I was giving it right back to them."

"She's pretty good," Jordan Eberle said. "It's great that she could step in and help us out." -- AP
