"My focus is on helping make this team better -- anything else is a distraction," Snow told Newsday today. "I'm confident in our ability as a team."

Snow said he has no plans to make any drastic changes to the roster, reiterating his stance that he'd only make a trade "if it makes sense in the short- and long-term."

The trade market has been very quiet through the first five weeks of the season, and the Islanders don't have much to give up. About the only move Snow and new coach Jack Capuano would make in the coming days is bringing up Jesse Joensuu, who has 11 points in 15 games with Bridgeport and could provide some offense.

But neither the new coach nor the GM sees drastic changes necessary just yet. "I believe in this team," Snow said. "I believe in the players we have in that locker room."
