In a minor-league swap, the Islanders acquired left wing A.J. Greer from the Avalanche for defenseman Kyle Burroughs.
Both are restricted free agents.
Greer, 23, has one goal and five assists and 47 penalty minutes in 37 NHL games since the Avalanche selected him in the second round in 2015. He had 16 goals and 16 assists in 47 games for the Avalanche’s AHL affiliate in Colorado last season.
Burroughs, 25, has yet to play an NHL game after the Islanders selected him in the seventh round in 2013.
