The Islanders hope to complete a new radio deal in time for tomorrow night's season opener, one that would land the team on WRHU (88.7 FM), which is the Hofstra station.

The potential partnership, first reported on the blog islanderspointblank.com, would include the use of students for some elements of the production but not play-by-play.

The Islanders last season frustrated many fans by eliminating their radio announcers and simulcasting audio of the television account on radio. The WRHU deal would end that arrangement.

Also, the signal for the team's station for night games last season, WMJC (94.3 FM), did not extend much west of Nassau Coliseum.

WRHU, located in Hempstead, reaches all of Nassau County, eastern Queens and western Suffolk. Games also would be carried on the station's website.
