Isles select Kirill Kabanov in 3rd-round

 The Islanders selected one of the most talked-about, enigmatic players in this year's draft, taking Russian winger Kirill Kabanov with the 65th overall pick.

The good news? He is regarded as a top-notch talent with elite skill. The bad News? He has some major issues.

He was recently dropped by agent J.P. Barry, banned from the KHL and the Russian National team, and has earned quite the interesting reputation.

And Kabanov is well aware of those rumors:

"Drinking, that I'm a rock and roller, that my body is covered in tattoos. I only have a couple of them," Kabanov said. "People say I'm bad like the devil, but I'm good like an angel."

Kabanov (who is now represented by the Orr hockey group), said he promises Islanders fans they won't be disappointed. He said he won't leave for Russia and will improve his discipline.

"I need to and I will, I promise." Kabanov said. "I understand that about myself."

When asked about why he dropped down so far in the rankings, Kabanov made an analogy to turbulence in an airplane and said he's still riding high and happy just to be selected.

"I'm so happy. I was really excited to hear my name. It's pretty cool because it's a wonderful team and a wonderful organization and I'm really happy about that."

Kabanov had 10 goals and 13 assists in 22 games with the Moncton Wildcats of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. He was limited to only 22 games because of a wrist injury, although he said that after undergoing surgery he is now "100%."
