Isles sign Sean Backman to one-year deal
The Islanders announced they have agreed to terms with forward Sean Backman on a one-year, two-way deal.
The former Yale standout is the brother-in-law of Islanders' two-time 30-goal scorer Matt Moulson. 25-year-old Backman, who had 7 goals and 16 assists in 67 games with the AHL's Texas Stars last season, is the younger brother of Moulson's wife, Alicia.
Backman, whose dad Mike Backman played for the Rangers, also has another brother-in-law in the NHL -- Kings goaltender Jonathan Quick.
Now THAT is a hockey family.
