Ryan Pulock sent back to Bridgeport

Ryan Pulock's stay with the Islanders was incredibly brief, lasting long enough for only a skate in warmups Saturday before the team sent him back to Bridgeport.

The 20-year-old defenseman was called up Friday when the Islanders placed Travis Hamonic (upper body) on injured reserve, with Pulock needed as a "just-in-case" seventh defenseman before Saturday's game.

Turns out Pulock wasn't needed, at least as far as health concerns go; the Islanders' defense did not shine in a 6-4 loss to the Blues. And Lubomir Visnovsky (upper body), out since Nov. 29, appears on target to come off IR before Tuesday's game against the Wild in St. Paul, so Pulock's roster spot will be needed.

The Sound Tigers also have a game Sunday, so Pulock will get some playing time. He has eight goals and five assists in 20 games with Bridgeport this season.

Review helps Brodeur

The Islanders thought they grabbed back the lead with 10:01 to play in the third period in a 4-4 game, but Martin Brodeur's luck hasn't run out.

Kyle Okposo tried to jam a loose puck in from the side of the net, but all Okposo pushed over the goal line was Brodeur's glove. Referee Kelly Sutherland was in good position to wave off a possible goal, and the replay confirmed that the puck never crossed the line.

Brodeur has 52 of his 689 wins against the Islanders, the most for him against any team.

Cizikas injured

Casey Cizikas left Saturday's game in the third period with an undisclosed injury. He appeared to take Vladimir Tarasenko's stick to the face after Thomas Hickey leveled Tarasenko with a clean hit.
