UPDATE: When asked after the scrimmage who stood out, Scott Gordon said he was happy with a certain pair's chemistry:

"I liked the way Streit and Wiz worked together on the power play."

Beyond that, Gordon said that he was pleased that both squads executed well on special teams and that they "got what we wanted" out of the scrimmage.

Gordon said he probably will not use John Tavares on the penalty kill at the beginning of the season, but wanted to incorporate that opportunity for him in training camp.

Gordon said he may use him on the PK in certain situations down the road, however, so he wants him to start building a comfort level there.

UPDATE: Bruno Gervais had his point shot tipped in to give the Orange squad an early 1-0 first-period lead over Blue. Bunch of whistles/ bogus penalties to allow special teams practice. Already one interesting wrinkle: John Tavares, who was not used on the PK last season, was out there killing penalties with the first Orange group.

Blake Comeau tallied for Orange at 3:58 in the second, but Blue rallied back with two goals later in the period--Matt Martin scored on a rush to cut the lead in half and then deflected Trent Hunter's shot to tie it up with less than 24 seconds on the clock.

Josh Bailey chipped in a goal and both Streit and Hunter scored twice in the third..Empty-netter from Tony Romano to make it a 6-4 victory for Orange.
