With a lineup depleted with six players in COVID-19 protocol, the Islanders put up an energetic effort in their new building, only for Calgary to put it out of reach late.

For a decade and a half, they had watched new or rebuilt sports palaces rise across the region, but now they have their own modern home with the UBS Arena.
