Give Martin Brodeur credit for honesty and even-handedness. After hearing him complain about the ice, the boards and the bad bounces at the Garden Wednesday I figured I'd ask him Friday about how the conditions at the Rock compare.

Here's what he said:

"Almost as bad.''

After the laughter from reporters died down, he said, "It’s tough this time of year to get great ice. Buildings are so busy. It’s just hard.

"For me, my comments were not toward Madison Square Garden. It was more that you have to pay attention. Because of all the bad bounces it makes it hard to play the game, especially for a goalie.

"[Henrik] Lundqvist has to play every game in that building so it’s got to be hard for him, too, to see all these bounces all the time."
