We informed ya early this morning (look it up) that writers at the Connecticut Whale game last night watched Michael Del Zotto get slashed and spoke with him after the game, when his hand was wrapped and in a splint. He said he was injured blocking a shot and was to see a hand specialist today.

Mitch Beck and Bruce Berlet both suspected a break. Well, now the word comes down that it's a fractured finger and he's likely out four to six weeks.

Rough year for DZ. Shipped down again after Bryan McCabe was acquired Monday from Florida. Played every game but one through Dec. 18, played one of next four, then sent to the A for 10 games, had one assist in the next ten with Rangers.

Rangers carrying seven defensemen now. If there's another injury, Tomas Kundratek might be the emergency replacement.
