Rangers forward Brandon Dubinsky will appear at an NHL arbitration hearing this morning in Toronto barring an improbable 11th-hour settlement. Dubinsky, 25, was the Rangers' leading scorer last season with 54 points, but talks on a new deal for the restricted free agent stalled. It is believed that Dubinsky, who was paid $2 million last season, was seeking far more than $4 million per year in a long-term deal and the Rangers were offering less.

At the hearing, each side presents its case for 90 minutes and can discuss statistics, team contributions and salaries of comparable players. Salaries of unrestricted free agents, previous negotiations with the club and the salary cap cannot be used as evidence. An arbitrator has 48 hours to make a decision on a one or two-year deal, whichever the team requests. Ryan Callahan has a hearing scheduled for next Thursday.
