Rangers legend Henrik Lundqvist will assume a new position with Madison Square Garden that will see him representing the organization in sponsorship endeavors, assisting in content development for the Garden’s digital platforms, and working with the Rangers alumni and the Garden of Dreams Foundation. In addition, Lundqvist will reprise his role as a studio analyst on Rangers telecasts on MSG Network.

“During the past year since I announced my retirement, I have enjoyed the opportunity to explore many different areas of the sports and entertainment industry and I look forward to continuing on that path,’’ Lundqvist said in the news release distributed Thursday. “I am thrilled to continue my relationship with MSG and the Rangers in this exciting, expanded role.’’

Lundqvist played 15 seasons for the Rangers, from 2005-2020, and established himself as one of the NHL’s top goaltenders in that era and one of the greatest and most beloved Rangers of all time. He owned over 50 franchise records at the time of his retirement, including the club’s all-time mark for wins (459), games by a goaltender (887), shutouts (64) and playoff games (130). A five-time NHL All-Star, he won the Vezina Trophy as the NHL’s top goaltender in 2011-12.
