Benoit Allaire, the beloved Rangers goalie coach who helped refine Henrik Lundqvist and Igor Shesterkin as they developed into NHL stars, is retiring after 30 years in the NHL, the last 22 with the Rangers.

The Rangers made an announcement on X on Saturday afternoon.

“Benoit Allaire’s contributions to the Rangers over the past two decades have been immeasurable,’’ Rangers president and general manager Chris Drury said in the post. “Whether it was teaching a Hall of Famer or a rookie just starting his career, Benny made everyone he worked with better.

“On behalf of everyone with the Rangers’ organization, we wish him and his wife, Lyne, all the best in retirement.’’

Allaire, who first entered the NHL as a goalie coach with the Montreal Canadiens in 1996 before moving on to the Phoenix Coyotes, joined the Rangers as their goalie coach in 2004.

In 2024, he gave up the day-to-day responsibilities of being Shesterkin’s goalie coach and became the organization’s director of goaltending.

He will remain with the Rangers through the NHL Draft and free agency.
