In some brief pre-game remarks at his locker, Henrik Lundqvist said of all the good things that the Rangers did in the 3-0 win in Game 1 on Monday, the three-goal third period stands out.

"The best part of that game is just we got better," Lundqvist said. "In the third period, we played our best hockey. That’s good for your confidence, too. We’ve been playing a lot of hockey lately, and going into the third, especially playing at home, we just feed off the crowd and get more energy. A lot of times that’s where games get decided, in the third period."

Like other players, Lundqvist also has blocked out the previous 3-2 Game 2 losses to the Senators and Capitals: "Different teams...I don't really think about the previous series....We look at this game as a great opportunity for us to keep going. We did a lot of good things the first game, so we’re going to continue working really hard."

And as usual, Lundqvist said his preparation rmains the same: "I just try to approach this game as any other game. I don’t think too much about the consequences of each game, you win, you lose, the whole playoffs, I just try to approach a game at a time, it helps my game."
