With my laptop totally crashed after the second period and scrambling to report and find a way to file a story, missed going into Pens locker room at MSG last night.  But NHL.com's Dave Lozo was there and reported that Max Talbot said he and Ryan Callahan were holding each other up during the early third period scrap when he heard the pop, felt it and let go and saw the pain on Callahan's face.

As was speculated last night, sure sounds like a shoulder dislocation/separation, which can take many forms. We find out more about the exam and MRI when the Rangers practice at noon. Stay tuned

A separated shouder can be first degree (least serious), second-degree (depends if ligaments are all or partially torn, and a player is out 4-6 weeks) and third, most severe, 6 to 8 weeks or longer because of labrum or rotator cuff injuries, recovery isn't easy.  I hear that in most cases nowadays, surgery is not the option unless it is severe.

But again, Rangers have said nothing at this point.  Short-term, a call up is possible, or Chris Kreider (ankle) comes back, or Matt Gilroy is deployed as a forward, which isn't a bad option.

Taylor Pyatt could move to the second line with Stepan and Hagelin, I suppose.  Or Gaborik drops off the first line and back to RW on the second with Hagelin moving up. Torts has already stated that he is concerned about balance, and he's never shy away from changing lines during games, so.....
