Steve Matthews' Aqueduct selections for Friday, Feb. 27
Best bet: SLAY SADDIE SLAY (7)
Best value: WHISTLER'S STYLE (3)
FIRST: Sparkling Mama projects as the speed of the speed with heads-up handling from the rail. Karey could be in the garden spot if top selection hits the wall. Ohoopee is fleet-footed but must avoid front-end duel with top selection.
SECOND: Alzero should find hybrid distance right in his wheelhouse; sharp work tab seals the deal. Kaz Oil Changer owns speed and could prove tough on a soft lead. Volatile Situation is training swiftly for first start in 14 months; must consider.
THIRD: Whistler's Style tallied solid late-pace figure when winning last; pairs up. Mursal owns speed and consistently fires big efforts; dangerous. Shetalkstomuch logs fast figures on "A" efforts; price will be tempting.
FOURTH: Pistol Liz Ablazen compiled tight work tab for first start in two months; ready to fire. Nilo's Rose gets class relief and makes third start of form cycle. Luna Moth is another that's training sharply for return from layoff; don't ignore.
FIFTH: Army Proud could get ideal setup in field of chronic losers. Alias is speedy but owns four seconds and two thirds from eight starts; mixed message. Gualillo logged fast figures in last two starts; big-time player.
SIXTH: Remi's Moon notched swift final fraction when winning last; takes another. Clancy Fancy owns speed and drops; dangerous. Big Hat Willie (fast back figures) and Jackson Heights (potent late kick) are two more that must be factored into the mix.
SEVENTH: Slay Saddie Slay tallied crisp late-pace figure when winning most recent; more to come. The Toy Cannon is fleet-footed and could prove very tough on a soft lead. Anyway was claimed by Linda Rice after winning debut by nearly three lengths; right in the thick of this.
EIGHTH: Clarividente looms the swiftest of the swift with heads-up handling. Probable Angle could be the prime beneficiary if top selection wilts in the stretch. St. Brigid's Cross is fleet-footed and gets class relief; big-time player. Purple Divine wheels back in a hurry after being overmatched in last; don't ignore.
