Steve Matthews' Saratoga selections for Wednesday, Aug. 13
Best bet: NONNA LYNNE (8)
Best value: ELIMINATE (4)
FIRST: Travesuras can be ideally positioned in jump race with an abundance of speed. Roja Redemption won last by 14 lengths; dangerous. Carloun can prove a tough customer on an unchallenged lead.
SECOND: Pineapple Man was a wire-to-wire winner in last; more to come. Unlimitedpotential is fresh and logs fast figures on best efforts. Margin of Air, an uncoupled barn mate of second pick, was a determined winner in lone start on Spa soil; right in the thick of this.
THIRD: Rizz moves to grass for profitable first-time turf barn. She's Country debuts for streaking George Weaver stable; follow the money. Ryan Elizabeth is from a dam that has produced a turf winner; don't ignore.
FOURTH: Eliminate makes first start since claimed after dominant win in last; takes another. Drake's Passage fired bullet half-mile since last start and logs fast figures on best efforts. Gun Party was rested after winning on June 29 at Churchill Downs; must be considered.
FIFTH: Kantarmaci entry: Gun It drops after notching improved internal numbers in last and mate Call Me Fast makes third start of form cycle. Fromanothamutha makes first start since claimed; worth long look. Concorde Spirit was just a length behind next-out winner in last; price will be tempting.
SIXTH: Orie packs potent late kick; set for best in third start of form cycle. Pazz the Soy Sauce displayed improved speed in last; dangerous. Pandemic Hero is fleet-footed and drops; must be factored into the mix.
SEVENTH: Melle Mel drops two price levels after wide fourth in last. Spirit of Esther owns speed and should be aided by cutback to sprint. She's Complicated makes quick return and gets class relief; must consider.
EIGHTH: Nonna Lynne tallied fast late-pace figure when winning last; pairs up. Queen Atlas could play out as the controlling speed; very interesting. Hangover Heaven drilled three times since five-length score in debut; right in the thick of this.
NINTH: In Her Glory, a hard-charging second in debut, gets the call if able to escape AE list. Delightful Darling tallied sharp placings in both starts; big-time contender. R P Byrne is from a dam that has produced a stakes winner on grass; worth long look. Quiet Street compiled swift work tab for debut; charting a must.
