Tim Daly scored two minutes into the fourth quarter to start a run of four consecutive goals by host Nassau CC in an 11-8 win over Monroe in men's lacrosse Saturday. The scoring run by Nassau (2-0 Region XV) broke a 7-7 tie. Ed Collins had 17 saves and Ernesto Steponas, Ryan Quinn and Tom Laviano each had two goals for Nassau.

Hartwick 15, Farmingdale State 8:Jimmy Owsinski had five goals and Tim Caden added three more for Farmingdale (1-2).

Dowling 17, Seton Hill (Pa.) 10:Vito Demola and Kevin Sabo each had three goals and an assist for Dowling (5-0, 2-0 ECC).

 

Harford (Md.) 9, Suffolk-Selden 6: Dan Morahan had two goals and one assist, Ronnie Khedr had two goals and Adam Lucas made 12 saves for Suffolk (2-1).

Syracuse 9, Georgetown 8: Stephen Keogh's fourth goal of the day bounced through the legs of Georgetown goalie Jack Davis in sudden-death overtime to lift top-ranked Syracuse (6-0).

Virginia 11, Cornell 9: Colin Briggs scored three goals to pace No. 2 Virginia (6-1) over No. 14 Cornell (3-2).

Maryland 8, Towson 4: No. 8 Maryland (4-1) improved to 28-5 all-time against the Tigers.

Sacred Heart 11, Manhattan 6: Manhattan's Justin Jensen (Bay Shore) scored twice and freshman goalie Rich Akapnitis (Hauppauge) made seven saves for the Jaspers (0-7). The Pioneers are 3-2.

 

WOMEN'S LACROSSE

Rutgers 11, Hofstra 10: Jill Maier scored five goals to lead Hofstra (2-4) from a 7-3 deficit, but Lindsey Watts scored a free position goal in the second overtime to win it for Rutgers (5-1). Maier tied it at 10 with 1:24 to go in regulation.

Massachusetts 20, Stony Brook 13: Freshman Kaila Gottlick had four goals and an assist for Stony Brook (2-3), but it wasn't enough to stop No. 18 Massachusetts (6-0). Alyssa Cardillo (Farmingdale) and Melissa Cook (Bay Shore) had two goals each for Stony Brook, and Kerry Kresse (Ward Melville) and Courtney Bertolone (Farmingdale) had a goal apiece.

C.W. Post 24, Southern New Hampshire 16:Lauren Spagnoletta had eight goals and two assists, Jackie Sileo had four goals and four assists and Michelle Fucich added three goals and two assists for C.W. Post (2-0).

New Paltz State 14, Farmingdale State 7: Samantha Delgaudio scored four goals and had four assists to lead New Paltz (2-0). Justine Rothar had two goals for Farmingdale (0-1).

Dowling 22, Georgian Court 12: Brooke Witkowski (Lindenhurst) had three goals and seven assists and Cassie Cronin (East Islip) added four goals and three assists for Dowling (2-0).
