Lizards' Rob Pannell finishes second in MLL Offensive Player of the Year voting

Lizards attackman Rob Pannell finished second in the voting for Major League Lacrosse's offensive player of the year award.
Rochester Rattlers attackman Jordan Wolf won the award, which was announced on Wednesday and voted on by the league's head coaches and general managers.
Pannell, a Smithtown native who played at Smithtown High School and later starred at Cornell, finished with 40 total points in the voting, including three first-place votes, which are worth five points each. Wolf finished with 46 points.
Pannell was the first overall pick by the Lizards in the 2012 MLL draft. Pannell has 40 goals and 32 assists this season, including last Saturday's 16-15 semifinal win over the Boston Cannons.
Two other Lizards players have won awards. Joe Fletcher was named the defensive player of the year on Tuesday and Drew Adams was named goalie of the year on Monday.
Wolf and Pannell will square off for the MLL championship on Saturday at 7 p.m. when the Rattlers and Lizards meet at Kennesaw State University in Georgia.
