Stony Brook grads help Canada lax defeat USA, 10-9
With help from a pair of Stony Brook University graduates, Canada held off USA, 10-9, Saturday in the round-robin round of the World Lacrosse Championship in Manchester, England.
Rhys Duch scored three goals and reigning America East Player of the Year Kevin Crowley scored a goal early in the fourth quarter to break a 6-6 tie.
John Grant led Canada (2-0) with three goals, including what proved to be the game-winner with 4:13 left that made it 10-8.
Kevin Cassese of Comsewogue and Duke and Matt Zash of Massapequa and Duke each scored a goal while Max Seibald of Hewlett and Cornell contributed a fourth-quarter assist for USA (1-1) which faces Germany on Sunday.
