Stony Brook junior midfielder Kevin Crowley, left, won the Enners Award as the nation's most outstanding Division I men's lacrosse player. (May 4, 2010) Credit: Frank Koester

Stony Brook University senior midfielder Kevin Crowley was the first overall pick of the 2011 Major League Lacrosse collegiate draft Friday. He was selected by the Hamilton (Ontario) Nationals.

Crowley had 51 goals and 26 assists last season and was a finalist for the Tewaaraton Award as the Division I player of the year. Also drafted from Stony Brook were attackman Jordan McBride (third round, Rochester) attackman Tom Compitello (fifth, Boston) and midfielder Adam Rand (sixth, Hamilton).

Hofstra had three players drafted. Midfielder Steve Serling (second, Denver), attackman Jay Card (second, Long Island Lizards) and midfielder Steven DeNapoli (fifth, Chesapeake).

Huntington's Rhamel Bratton, a star midfielder for national champion Virginia, was selected in the third round by the Lizards.

The draft is held prior to the final collegiate season of senior players, though no signings take place until the season is over. Only seniors with expiring eligibility after the 2011 NCAA season are eligible to be drafted
